White Sunday, Lotu Tamaiti in Polynesian, translates to "Children's Sunday" remains one of the most critical days for religious Polynesians. It is the day children become the parents, and parents the children. Families spend the day going from church to church, where the children, all dressed in white, lead the church services. Feasts, gifts, and family gatherings highlight the day in Samoa, Tonga, Niue, and with Polynesian families in New Zealand, Australia, and other islands.
The Monday following is a national holiday in Samoa, Tonga and Niue.
