The Melbourne Cup is a Thoroughbred horse race occurring on the first Tuesday of November.
Considered one of the richest races in the world, the cup's race track is 3,200 meters in length and is open to horses three years old and above.
Sponsored by the Victoria Racing Club and held on the Flemington Racecourse in Melbourne, Australia.
