DESCRIPTION:
National Public Lands Day is observed on the last Saturday of September.
During this day, federally managed lands have free entrance; people can enjoy these areas more, and volunteers work to clean up trash and assist with maintenance.
Launched in 1994, National Public Lands Day, the first event, drew over 700 volunteers.
