International Tolkien Week encompasses Hobbit Day (September 22).
This week commemorates JRR Tolkien, the author of the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, and his son Christopher J.R. Tolkien, his father’s editor.
This celebration began in 1978, with school libraries displaying Tolkien’s works, becoming an international event.
