DESCRIPTION:
Elder abuse is a global social issue affecting the health and human rights of millions of elderly persons the world over. It is an issue deserving the attention of the international community, as well as action by it.
This day is set aside each year to give voice to the elderly and focus on the situations that breed abuse and suffering, whilst raising awareness of the resources available to the elderly and caretakers to prevent abuse from occurring in the first place.
