Tu B'Shvat in Judaism is the 'New Year of Trees'.
The tree-metaphor is fundamental in Judaism which sees trees as a metaphor for people, divided into three parts: roots, then trunk, branches and leaves, and finally, fruit as the third part.
Each portion of the tree has a metaphoric meaning that corresponds to people's lives, struggles and goals.
