One of the best ways to protect yourself from fake news and manipulation is to go through your "Friends" list on your social media accounts. Social media posts can cost you your job, cause you to lose genuine relationships, or prevent you from getting job interviews. Sometimes, they can get you in trouble with the law or government. Because of this, you want to ensure your posts are seen by the people you know and trust. Check your privacy settings. Get rid of anyone who you don't know today.
Checking for bots: Is there anyone you don't recognize? Are they using an avatar instead of a photo? Are the number of posts they do extreme (active users will do 2-10 posts daily, not hundreds.) If they're showing thousands of posts, are relatively new accounts, or you don't know them, it's possible they are a bot, and you're a target. Take the necessary action on unfriend day.
