How do you get men to take male cancers seriously? You throw The Great Willy Waddle fundraiser! The primary two-kilometer run or walk in Edinburgh, with a brotherly event in London, is a favorite with groups and cancer survivors. Participants wear inflatable male membrane costumes (which participants get to keep). Then all the decked-out inflated willies waddle, jog, or walk the two-kilometer route through Holyrood Park in Edinburgh, Scotland (June), or Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London (May). Willies waddle for sponsorship dollars, with all funds going to support Orchid for research into male cancers and helping those with it. Open to participants aged 16 years or over.

Yom Yerushalayim, or Jerusalem Day, is an Israeli state holiday celebrating the conquest and annexation of East Jerusalem during the Six Day War of 1967. In Israel, the day is described as the Day of Reunification, and it is the day the city of Jerusalem fell under Israeli control and those of the Jewish faith. The reunification was recognized solely in the State of Israel until December 6, 2017, when President Donald Trump declared his administration recognized Jerusalem as Israeli exclusively, only of and for the Jewish people. Yom Yerushalayim occurs on the anniversary of the annexation according to the Hebrew calendar, and it is a secular holiday. PLEASE NOTE: Under international law, East Jerusalem is and has been occupied since 1967. The city of Jerusalem, under the United Nation's agreement creating the state of Israel, is to remain an international city, not the exclusive land of an individual nation. Representatives of Isreal agreed to this requirement in 1947 as a condition of their statehood. The inhabitants of East Jerusalem are predominantly Christians and Muslims and were under the guardianship of the Kingdom of Jordan at the time of the war. Despite his beliefs, the president of the United States does not have the authority to rewrite international law, reallocate sovereignty, or change the status of East Jerusalem at a whim.

Boys & Girls Club Day is an annual celebration of the over 150-year-old history of Boys and Girls clubs across the country. Concerned for the welfare of boys left to roam the streets in 1860, three women from Hartford, Conn. - Mary Goodwin, Alice Goodwin, and Elizabeth Hammersley created a program to educate and entertain the youth, and it worked! Not only did their club flourish, but other communities emulated their success. In 1906 Boys Clubs from across the country joined, and the Boys Club Federation of America was born. Today is the anniversary of the 1906 creation of the Boys Club Federation of America. In 1990 the name was changed to Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

National Defense Transportation Day recognizes our nation's transportation infrastructure and the men and women who build, maintain, and utilize it. In 1957. by joint resolution, Congress requested the President designate the third Friday in May of each year as National Defense Transportation Day, and, by joint resolution approved May 14, 1962, as amended (36 U.S.C. 133), that the week during which that Friday falls is National Transportation Week. Roads, bridges, and ports are the transportation networks essential to securing the United States and protecting our borders. Repairing our transportation networks is about economic growth and security. Good roads ensure first responders can respond effectively during a crisis. That means protecting our critical infrastructure and repairing roads and bridges that put our people at risk. Together, we can make meaningful progress toward those goals. Let us recommit this week to revitalizing transportation, pioneering new solutions to tough challenges, and making lasting investments in America's infrastructure.

Devil's Food is the first chocolate cake ever marketed as a cake mix by the Duff Company of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in the 1930s. The first recipe for the cake was published in 1905. Essentially, Devil's Food cake is a dense dark chocolate cake, usually baked in a Bundt cake tin or as a layer cake, with a rich flavor that is not overly sweet. It can be served with a glaze, frosting, or without either. Devil's Food cake is the grandmother of the popular red velvet cake, the original which gained its red color through chemistry (interaction of acid (sour milk), alkali (baking soda), and non-alkalized unsweetened chocolate. The combination creates a blood-red color in the cake. Today, food coloring is typically used. Devil's Food Cake Day is an unofficial holiday with no sponsor.
