Too often, unused prescription drugs find their way into the wrong hands. That's dangerous and often tragic and why it was great to see thousands of folks from across the country clean out their medicine cabinets and turn in - safely and anonymously - a record amount of prescription drugs. The DEA sponsors a Drug Take Back Day each April and October to make disposal of expired or no longer needed medications safe and easy. Social media and community promotion assets are free on the event champion's website. https://takebackday.dea.gov. National Take Back Day is held on the last Saturday in April and October. It began in 2016.

Richter Scale Day (1900): April 26

Richter Scale Day marks the birthday of physicist and seismologist Charles Francis Richter (April 26, 1900 - September 30, 1985). His and Bent Gutenberg’s 1935 invention, the Richter Scale, is the standard for measuring earthquake magnitude. Richter was born in Ohio but moved to Los Angeles in 1916. He attended the University of Southern California, later graduated from Stanford University, and received his Ph.D. from the California Institute of Technology in 1928.
