The most common subtypes include: OCA1: Caused by mutations in the TYR gene, which encodes the enzyme tyrosinase. This enzyme is crucial for melanin production. OCA1B: Partial melanin production, leading to light-colored hair, skin, and eyes, which may darken slightly over time.
