DESCRIPTION:
Army Day in Jordan celebrates the beginning of the Great Arab Revolt on June 10, 1916, ultimately ending the Ottoman Empire with its conclusion in 1918. It changed the geography of Western Asia and the history of the Arab people. Army Day is a national holiday in Jordan.
People outside of the Arab world are familiar with this event from the writings of TE Lawrence and the film Lawrence of Arabia.
