National Child Abuse Prevention Month was established in 1983 through a presidential decree and occurs each year in April.
Over a half million American children in the United States suffer neglect or abuse each year. National Child Abuse Prevention Month seeks to educate parents and caregivers about resources available to create a safe and healthy home for children and resources available to help achieve this.
The official sponsor of this event is the US Government, and the website is www.ChildWelfare.gov.
