February 12, 1909, is the anniversary of the creation of the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People).
It is the nation's oldest, largest, and most widely recognized grassroots
civil rights organization.
The organization's objectives include:
1) Ensuring the political, educational, social, and economic equality of minority citizens of the United States.
2) Eliminating race prejudice.
3) Ending racial discrimination through democratic processes.
