International Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Awareness Week is a grassroots effort by the Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy in:
1) Identifying - supporting, and sharing promising DMD-related research;
2) Creating - up to date information about treatment and care options available to all members of the DMD community;
3) Pursuing - strategies which will impact this generation of young men affected by DMD as well as future generations;
4) Encouraging - policymakers to afford the same priority to DMD as they would to
other disorders of similar incidence and prevalence;
5) Creating - a supportive community for people affected by DMD;
6) Participating - actively in the international DMD community;
7) Ensuring - PPMD is managed, developed and funded in a manner consistent with nonprofit industry best practices.
It always occurs on the same dates each year: February 13-18.
