The day raises awareness and appreciation of women, daughters, and girls in a nation prone to patriarchy and was quickly adopted internationally in several countries. Daughters Day has mistakenly been picked up in the United States as a fixed observance on September 25 each year, a misreading of the original event that moves dates. The American observance is an internet invention, unofficial and unsponsored. International Daughters Day is the actual and official event each year, and it always occurs on the 4th Sunday of the month.

World Day of Migrants & Refugees first ran in 1914 and was initiated by Pope Pius X. In 2019, and the date moved from early January to the last Sunday of September. There are three general classifications of refugees and migrants: Asylum seekers, refugees, and economic migrants. The British Red Cross defines each as follows: ASYLUM SEEKERS An asylum seeker flees their home and arrives in another country, whichever way they can. Makes themselves known to the authorities Submits an asylum application Has a legal right to stay in the country while waiting for a decision. In 2018, the UK received applications for asylum for 37,453 people (including dependents), far less than Germany (162,000), France (110,000), Greece (65,000) and Italy (49,000). REFUGEES Refugees prove they’d be at risk if they returned to their home country. Has had their claim for asylum accepted by the government Can now stay here either long term or indefinitely. Refugees have a right under the UK and international law to bring their immediate family members to join them. ECONOMIC MIGRANTS An economic migrant has moved to another country to work. They could be living there legally or illegally depending on how they entered the country; May or may not have a legal work permit.

World Rabies Day raises awareness of rabies and its prevention. The event occurs on the anniversary of the death of Louis Pasteur (December 27, 1822 - September 28, 1895), the developer of the first rabies vaccine. Sponsored by the Center of Disease Control (CDC) and Alliance for Rabies Control (ARC) in 2007 and endorsed by many international human and veterinary institutions worldwide. World Rabies Day encourages pet owners and outdoor enthusiasts to learn how to prevent rabies infections. Vaccinations are a critical component of disease prevention. Rabies vaccines are not one and done. They require boosters every three years in cats and dogs.

World Rivers Day expanded from BC Rivers Day, created by Mark Angelo of Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada, in 1980. Upon the designation of Water for Life Decade by the United Nations in 2005, it became an annual event observed on the fourth Sunday of September. Currently, over 60 nations partake in the event. World Rivers Day is a celebration of the world's waterways. It highlights the many values of rivers, strives to increase public awareness, and encourages the improved stewardship of rivers around the world.

Safe Abortion Day, Intl: September 28

International Save Abortion Day on September 28 has been a regional campaign for decriminalizing abortion in Latin America and the Caribbean for over twenty years before being taken on by SRHR activists in 2011. The campaign was formerly known as the Global Day of Action for Access to Safe and Legal Abortion. As of 2022, the fight for the decriminalization of abortion includes the United States. In June of 2022, the Supreme Court ruled states can make their laws without regard to the US constitution. Over a dozen states have made abortion a crime, dissolving fifty years of a woman's right to choose.
